New Delhi shrouded in smoke as massive landfill burns

Communities in northern New Delhi are shrouded by acrid smoke as a massive landfill continues to burn. The Bhalswa landfill caught fire on April 26, 2022, and quickly spread to an area as large as 50 football pitches and as tall as a 17-storey building. Firefighters worked through the night battling the blaze, but high winds led to the fire spreading.
