Born Charles Philip Arthur George on 14 November 1948, Charles became king of the United Kingdom and 14 other Commonwealth realms following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth, on September 8, 2022. He has taken the official name of Charles III. He was previously the longest-serving heir apparent and longest-serving Prince of Wales in British history.
