Formed in 1982, its primary mission initially focused on resisting Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon. The organisation operates across political, military, and social spheres, providing extensive welfare services while maintaining a significant armed wing. Recognised for its strong ties with Iran and its substantial influence within Lebanese politics, Hezbollah has also played a key role in regional conflicts, notably the Syrian civil war. It is designated as a terrorist organisation by numerous countries.
