Three undergraduate programmes are offered by the Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies to equip students with the technical skills and professional knowledge necessary in today’s competitive marketplace. A multi-disciplinary approach is used to serve the diverse field of logistics and operations management, covering shipping, transportation, warehousing, providing insight to effective management of materials, information and financial resources.
Undergraduate programmes offered by the Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies:
BBA (Hons) in Global Supply Chain Management (JUPAS code: JS3533)
The Supply Chain Management (SCM) programme focuses on how firms optimise resources in a logistics network and deliver value to end customers. It offers students business education, up-to-date industry knowledge and practical skills to manage the global flow of goods in the supply chain. Graduates will gain skills in operations management, cross-functional management, information technology, international business and transport logistics.
Hong Kong is a major global trading and logistics hub and the SCM programme is relevant to many businesses in Hong Kong and globally.
BBA (Hons) in International Shipping and Transport Logistics (JUPAS code: JS3674)
The International Shipping and Transport Logistics programme emphasises the acquisition of practical skills as well as theoretical and professional knowledge necessary for a career in the maritime, shipping and logistics sectors. While the primary focus of the programmes is on the shipping and logistics industry, the skills and knowledge acquired are transferable and will enable graduates to find employment in many different areas.
With a solid foundation in maritime transport and logistics, graduates will have a broad perspective of international transport and trade, and an understanding of maritime organisation and management.
BBA (Hons) in Aviation Management and Logistics (Two-year full-time government-funded top-up degree programme)
The Aviation Management and Logistics programme covers the major skills and knowledge that is crucial for management professionals working in the aviation industry. The course of study offers well-rounded business education with a specialisation in aviation management and logistics. Graduates will gain an in-depth understanding of how airports, airlines, government agencies, regulators and firms contribute to the overall functioning of aviation markets.
With Hong Kong’s position as a leading aviation hub there are many opportunities for close interaction and networking between industry experts and programme participants.
A well-rounded education
As part of the programme requirements, the Work-Integrated Education (WIE) section entitles every student to work experiences, such as summer work placements with firms in Hong Kong, mainland China and overseas or part-time employment during a semester, from which they will gain valuable hands-on experience. There are also opportunities to participate in a range of extra-curricular activities including leadership training camps, peer tutoring, mentorship and exchange programmes to the mainland and overseas through the Whole Person Development Programme (WPDP).
