Getting your child into an elite school or university is more competitive than ever. Good grades, meticulously curated extracurricular profiles and outstanding personal essays are just the start of a strong application. It can be difficult to know what else is required, particularly if your child is set on studying overseas.

For parents who find the ins and outs of the admissions process daunting, seeking the professional help of a consultant may be the best course of action.

According to Hah, Aegis assists a wide range of families. Their clients include those with specific target schools, as well as those who need help navigating the wide range of fees and academic requirements for local and international schools.

Staff at admissions consultants Quantum Prep focus on assisting families looking to apply to institutions in the US and UK and work with students as early as the summer before they are due to start high school or college.

Antonia Chui, managing director of Quantum Prep, explains that dealing with the often complicated bureaucracy and paperwork involved in university admissions is a “huge portion” of their work. “Different [universities] require students to respond to different admission essay questions and have different interview requirements,” Chui says.
