Yue Hing

Forced to close in 2021 due to the passing of its owner, one of Hong Kong’s most famous dai pai dong has just reopened for service. Yue Hing is best known for its fragrant milk tea and signature sandwiches stuffed with corned beef, luncheon meat, scrambled egg and peanut butter. Expect to queue for up to three hours to get a bite. You’ve been warned.

Yaowarat

Central welcomes a buzzy Thai eatery with the opening of Yaowarat on Hollywood Road. Inspired by the renowned food street in Bangkok’s Chinatown, the menu features dishes such as beef skewers and whole shrimp cake, as well as a selection of southern Thai specialities including Hat Yai fried chicken. Wash it all down with one of Yaowarat’s Thai-inspired cocktails.

Banh Mi Nem

Attracting long queues soon after its Wan Chai opening last April, Banh Mi Nem has now expanded to a second location, in Central. The same viral banh mi are on offer here, loaded with pâté, cold cuts and pork floss flown in daily from Vietnam, sandwiched between a light and crispy baguette. Arrive early to snag one before they run out.
