Family-style steakhouse Wooloomooloo has unveiled its new upmarket incarnation with Omaroo Grill. At Omaroo – “a beautiful view” in Australia’s Aboriginal language – the grill certainly lives up to its name thanks to its panoramic vistas, made possible by its 26th-floor perch in the middle of Central. Underpinning its steak offerings are prime wet-aged Australian cuts, including a 350-day grain-fed Wagyu tomahawk and a 1kg short bone-in rib-eye, both sourced from Queensland.

The latest venture from chef George Kwok (Pondi, Shop B) walks the well-trodden path of a modern izakaya. Inoshishi – Japanese for “wild boar” – serves up Kwok’s contemporary take on a plethora of dishes, including kushiyaki (grilled skewers), agemono (deep-fried delights), hearty oden and more. The fun, easy-going service is sure to quickly amass a stream of loyal okyakusama.

Nestled inside the newly opened, 1,000-room Hopewell Hotel, this spacious Chinese restaurant serves the greatest hits from traditional Cantonese cuisine. Aside from dim sum service during the day, Hopewell Inn is gaining fans for the fact its menu takes inspiration from the 24 solar terms of the lunar calendar, with signature dishes such as pan-fried golden oyster with yam bean and mushrooms.
