Inside the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival: feast on Thai milk tea canelés, Vietnamese egg coffee and Chinese baijiu
The 5-day event along the Victoria Harbour will feature world-class mixologists and Michelin-starred restaurants
The Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival returns bigger and better this year, not just in size – with more than 300 booths set to participate – but also in duration, taking place over five days between October 23 and 27 until 11pm each night.
Staged at its usual haunt in the Central Harbourfront Event Space, the festival features offerings from 35 countries, spanning categories such as fine wine, whisky and cocktails, as well as street food and dishes from Michelin-starred restaurants.
You can look forward to wines from places such as France’s Bordeaux, Chile and Australia, alongside emerging Chinese wines and spirits from Ningxia, Yunnan and Shandong. Think Guizhou baijiu, traditionally served at state banquets, and Xige Estate Jade Dove Cabernet, which was recognised as one of the Top 10 Wines of the Year in China in 2020 by wine critic James Suckling.
The festival’s “Dine” section features a new thematic zone, Culinary Stars, showcasing chefs from Michelin-recommended restaurants, including three-Michelin-starred Forum and Michelin Bib Gourmand awardee Fisholic. More than 110 food booths promise a veritable world tour in delicacies, from Argentinian chorizo sandwiches to Thai milk tea canelés, Vietnamese egg coffee and black truffle Italian gelato.
All of this takes place against breathtaking views of Victoria Harbour. For an additional fee, you can access the new Harbour Lounge, where mixologists from heavyweights listed on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2024 – such as Do-hyung “Demie” Kim of Zest in Seoul (placed at No 2) and Tracey Lu of Hope & Sesame in Guangzhou (No 14) – will be shaking things up with home-grown talent Leo Ko, beverage manager of Cordis Hong Kong, who won the World Cocktail Championship in 2023.
