Your perfect week: what to do in Hong Kong, March 9-15

Pioneering Scottish post-rock band Mogwai returns to Hong Kong for their first show since Clockenflap 2014. Taking place at the intimate Freespace venue in West Kowloon, the March 16 set will feature songs from their newly released 11th album, The Bad Fire, with plenty of shoegaze to boot.

Autonomous sensory meridian response, better known as ASMR, has been the raison d’être for millions of YouTube videos. And now you can experience the effects of this physiological response in the flesh, thanks to an exhibition from London’s Design Museum that is debuting in Hong Kong, at the Gate33 Gallery, on March 14. Featuring 40 works by ASMR designers, the show promises to be a salve for our chaotic age.

Ranked third in the World’s 50 Best Hotels 2024, Rosewood Hong Kong marks its sixth anniversary with eight culinary collaborations. These include a Fried Chicken Gala hosted by former South China Morning Post food editor Susan Jung (March 14 and 15) and collaborative dinners featuring Chaat and Hansik Goo (March 18 and 19) and The Legacy House with Singapore’s Thevar (March 20). Meanwhile, DarkSide will host Jewel of the South from New Orleans (March 21 and 22) and The Butterfly Room will collaborate with the famed Pierre Gagnaire (March 25) for afternoon tea.

Wine-centric members’ club 67 Pall Mall is launching a seasonal concept titled China Uncorked to spotlight the rise of viticulture north of the border. Encompassing 67 Chinese wine labels, the revamped menu has bottles spanning everything from chardonnay, pinot noir, and Bordeaux blends to Rhône-style syrah, as well as lesser known varieties like petit manseng and niagara.
