Daai Zaak
Led by veteran chef Wu Chun-pui, this elevated Chinese restaurant blends the comfort of time-tested family recipes with the country’s wider culinary heritage. Within its serene interiors, Daai Zaak (“large abode” in Cantonese) serves tasting menus as well as à la carte dishes that drive home Wu’s extensive knowledge of Chinese cuisine as well as the quality of local produce.

Tsui Wah
This venerated icon of Lan Kwai Fong is back after a near five-year hiatus, and with an upmarket facelift. Now sporting marble flooring, black wood and rattan-backed chairs, and minimalist dishware, the new Tsui Wah has done away with its mass-market, if somewhat quaint aesthetics to cater to the Central office crowd. Gone, too, is the 24-hour service, though, thankfully, signatures such as the baked pork chop rice and tom yum flat rice noodles remain on the menu.

Torikizoku
With more than 700 locations across Japan, Torikizoku is known for its cheap and cheerful yakitori and highballs. And now it’s bringing this winning formula to Hong Kong, setting up shop in Tuen Mun. Expect classic skewers such as chicken thigh, breast, wings and tsukune served at lightning speed and slathered in the signature tare sauce, guaranteed to satisfy any yakitori craving at wallet-friendly prices.
