Vapers beware! Hong Kong is preparing to impose a ban on “alternative smoking products”, with a maximum penalty of six months’ imprisonment and a fine of HK$50,000.

A bill to amend the Smoking Ordinance, targeting e-cigarettes, heat-not-burn products, and herbal cigarettes, was submitted to the Legislative Council by the government on Wednesday, and will have its first reading on February 20.

Why a blanket ban on vaping and e-cigarettes is bad news for HK teenagers

According to the bill, anyone who brings in, imports, manufactures, sells, distributes, possesses, or promotes alternative smoking products could face a fine or imprisonment.

Advertising such alternative smoking products could lead to a maximum fine of HK$50,000.
