How female celebrities are rocking ties, from Selena Gomez, Zendaya and Jenna Ortega, to Hailey Bieber and Ayo Edebiri – formal neck attire is no longer just for the boys

Ties have become the hottest accessory among female celebs and influencers, especially when teamed with a smart suit

There was no shortage of ties on the women’s spring/summer 2025 catwalks, either. At the Saint Laurent ready-to-wear show in Paris, almost every model sported double-breasted suits and patterned ties. The androgynous looks were inspired by the styles famously worn by the house’s founding designer Yves Saint Laurent.

Hailey Bieber and Elle Fanning were two of the first to don slouchy suits and ties fresh off the French label’s runway. Last October, Bieber dressed like a girlboss at the launch party for her Rhode brand Barrier Butter, in a maroon tie and a pair of black-rimmed spectacles. A few weeks later, Fanning wore an almost identical get-up (albeit in brown) at the London photocall of her latest film, A Complete Unknown. The actress completed her ensemble with a navy tie and side-swept waves. Both opted for striped shirts and pointed pumps.

Zendaya is another Hollywood star that recently upped her suiting game. The A-lister attended the 2024 Wimbledon Championships in two tie-focused outfits hailing from Ralph Lauren, including a khaki blazer with a loosely knotted blue and white tie. Although the idea of wearing a tie isn’t exactly groundbreaking, these female dressers have taken it to a new level.

For actress Diane Keaton, now in her late seventies, ties have always been a thing. Since Woody Allen’s 1977 romcom Annie Hall, she has worn many iterations on and off the red carpet. Other famous women in ties include Princess Diana, who wore them several times in the 80s and 90s, and singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne.
We can only guess which accessory will make a comeback next.
