Meet the daughter of Desperate Housewives’ Teri Hatcher, Emerson Tenney: the Taylor Swift mega fan and Ivy League graduate writes and directs animated films – and twins with her mum on the red carpet

Emerson Tenney, who shares her mother’s winning smile, has racked up numerous accolades as an animation screenwriter; and she and Hatcher are dedicated Taylor Swift fans

In fact, Hatcher, 60 and Tenney, 27, have quite a reputation for their coordinated style. Last year, they were at Berlin Fashion Week for the Marc Cain show, wearing matching purple ensembles. And if it’s not the colour that’s matching they make sure their aesthetics are in sync. As models for Marc Cain, the two served quiet luxury mixed with corpcore on the streets of the German capital. Hatcher was dressed in a sage green power suit; Tenney sported a mocha blazer and skirt set.
But besides her style chops, what else do we know about Emerson Tenney?
Emerson Tenney is an Ivy League graduate

Emerson Tenney attended Brown University, Rhode Island, where she studied creative writing and took a bachelor’s degree. She graduated in 2020, just as the Covid-19 pandemic took hold, so her graduation ceremony was virtual. Hatcher celebrated the milestone with a post on her Instagram account captioned, “After the virtual & moving ceremony this morning, I dry my tears, blow my nose and toast to all your hard work and the great things I see in your future. Congratulations on reaching this amazing milestone! I love you so much!!!”
What does she do now?

Tenney worked as a voice actress when younger, but now she is a writer and director. Her screenplay for animated film Freesia was selected for the 2023 British Animation Film Festival, won Best Feature Script at the Paris Art and Movie Awards and took home the Best Animated Screenplay Award from the Imagine This Women’s Film Festival. Tenney herself, meanwhile, won the First Time Screenwriter Award at Indie House, an IMDB international film festival. Her animated short film Vibrantea, which she wrote and directed, is coming soon. In addition, she is passionate about cooking and once took an enchilada dish to the Desperate Housewives set.
