Hong Kong welcomes not one, not two, but four new Korean restaurants this August. From Central to Hung Hom, neighbourhoods all over the city are seeing newcomers that range from contemporary Korean eateries to casual barbecue spots.

Other new additions include a Mediterranean-style small plates restaurant and a new 24-hour Chinese restaurant at Hong Kong International Airport.

Read on to see what else strikes your fancy.

1. Sol Restaurant

Sol Restaurant in Central’s multi-venue Solstice Culinary Space is helmed by chefs Kim Gwan-ju, who boasts stints at Singapore’s three-Michelin-starred Odette and Seoul’s L’Amant Secret, and Kylie Yang, who has worked at three-Michelin-starred Mingles in Seoul and one-Michelin-starred Alma in Singapore.

This sleek, modern eatery presents Korean flavours with a French twist and Hong Kong sensibilities.

The tasting menu features dishes such as Jeju abalone seared in brown butter, served with seaweed, bamboo shoots and mussel beurre blanc; and gyeran jjim, or Korean-style steamed egg, elevated with mushroom sabayon, sherry vinegar gel and pine nut sauce.
