Google Maps has joined forces with Cantopop star and actor Nicholas Tse Ting-fung to showcase his favourite places to eat in Hong Kong.

The list, available on Google Maps’ newly launched Shared List Feature in Hong Kong, marks the navigation app’s 20th anniversary.

Titled “Chef Nic’s Choice”, the collection explores Hong Kong’s culinary landscape through Tse’s palate and includes classic old-style Hong Kong cafes known as cha chaan teng as well as Michelin-star restaurants.

Among the actor’s favourite comfort food “guilty pleasures” are the Hong Kong-style chicken pie and pineapple bun from Kam Fung Restaurant (G/F, Spring Garden Mansion, 41 Spring Garden Lane, Wan Chai, tel: 2572 0526) and the “bold and rich” milk tea from Hong Kong-style fast food restaurant My Cup of Tea (G/F, Wing Hing Building, Spring Garden Lane, Wan Chai, tel: 2386 0007).

The list also includes Golden Valley (373 Queen’s Rd E, Wan Chai, tel: 29613330), a place Tse loves for its food’s balanced flavours and “Sichuan sauces that elevate without overpowering”.

Michelin-recommended spots include Yat Lok Restaurant Central (34-38 Stanley St, Central, tel: 2524 3882) for a “mouthwatering delight that’s best enjoyed fresh in-house” at and Kwan Kee Claypot Rice (63 Queen’s Rd W, Sai Ying Pun, tel: 2803 7209), an “extraordinary flavour experience”.
