Hong Kong is fully embracing the Halloween spirit this year with a range of spooktacular events.
A highlight is Spooky Halloween, a music carnival at the Wan Chai Harbourfront featuring big names such as US DJ Steve Aoki and Cantopop star Hins Cheung.
Bars and restaurants across the city will serve up spooky cocktails, while tens of thousands of costumed revellers are expected to gather in the heart of the entertainment district of Lan Kwai Fong for a street party on October 31.
A host of kid-friendly activities are also taking place citywide, so wipe the cobwebs off your costume – or leave them on for effect – and check out what is on offer with our recommendations below.
1. Spooky Halloween
Hong Kong’s first Halloween music carnival will take place at the Wan Chai Harbourfront Space over two weekends: October 24 to 26 and October 31 to November 2.

Expect pumpkin displays, games, a Halloween-themed food market and, when the sun sets, an impressive line-up of music.
Catch international and local stars including Steve Aoki, Hins Cheung, MC Cheung Tin-fu, R3hab, Zedd, Rae Sremmurd, JW, Lolly Talk, and Mayao.

2. The Eaton HK
The Eaton HK hotel will transform into a lively playground of spooky surprises, from The Astor’s family-friendly haunted feast to creepy cocktails at Terrible Baby and the return of Flower Years’ Halloween Brew Haunt.
Kids can dress up and enjoy face painting at the Princess Salon at the Eaton Food Hall on October 25 from 1-3 pm, while adults can check out The Haunting of Drag Manor, a drag show at Terrible Baby on October 25.

3. African Kidz Club
The Africa Centre in Jordan will host a Kidz Club Halloween event on October 25 that is designed to celebrate diversity, creativity and community spirit.

The three-hour session will allow kids to engage in fun activities from craft making to drumming, dancing and other fun stuff that promotes creativity and cultural appreciation.

4. Slime fun at The Mills
Kids can let their imaginations run wild at a Halloween-themed slime workshop on October 25 and 26 at The Mills in Tsuen Wan.
Face-painting artists will also be on site to craft bespoke spooky looks, and do not forget to dress up in a Halloween costume for some trick-or-treat fun – and that includes your four-legged friend.

5. Spooky Chills at Discovery Bay
Discovery Bay will host a series of spooky events this month, including a Halloween Night Market on October 26 – keep an eye out for a roving magician.

6. The Aubrey After Dark’s Shadows & Secrets – A Masquerade
Guests can enter a world of mystery, disguise and desire with Shadows & Secrets – A Masquerade on October 31 from 10pm until late at The Aubrey at the Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong hotel.

Curated by After Dark founders Andrew Bull (DJ El Toro), Marina Bullivant and Cosmo Webber, the night will bring together music, design and atmosphere in true Aubrey fashion.
Expect hypnotic rhythms, underground house and some indulgent prizes if you wear the best costume. Tickets are HK$200 (presale) or HK$250 (door).

7. Rocky Horror Halloween at The Wanch
Live music hotspot The Wanch will pay homage to the comedy musical The Rocky Horror Show and its 1975 film adaptation.

Come as your favourite character from the cult classic – from Dr. Frank-N-Furter and Magenta to Riff Raff, Brad and Janet – and you could win the best dressed prize.
Bands to check out on the night are the Hard Luck Kings (9pm), Helium3 (10.30pm), and Rubicube (12am).

8. Zuma Past Curfew Cinema – Halloween Party
Contemporary Japanese restaurant Zuma will transform into a “Past Curfew Cinema” on October 31 where cocktails and champagne will flow as freely as the DJ’s beats from 10pm-1am.
General admission tickets are HK$880 per person.

9. Hong Kong Disneyland
Called “Disney Halloween Time”, Hong Kong Disneyland’s Halloween event runs until November 2 and is themed around Disney Villains taking over the park as part of its 20th-anniversary celebrations.
New attractions include the “Uninvited! A Villains Takeover Party!” on Main Street, USA. Guests can also see the returning “Let’s Get Wicked” show and experience a special Halloween version of the Jungle River Cruise.

10. Halloween at Cantina
Cantina’s Halloween dinner on October 31 will feature a bewitching menu of deep-fried mixed mushrooms, brain and sweetbread, bloody ravioli with beetroot, and spooky roasted gnocchi with pumpkin purée, Parmesan crumble and pumpkin seeds.
End on a sweet note with La Zucca, a textural surprise of pumpkin with juicy mango and passion fruit mousse, filled with lemon verbena jelly and topped with a toasted pumpkin seed crumble.
Course options include two courses (HK$488/person), three (HK$538/person) or four (HK$628/person), and free-flow Champagne packages of Veuve Clicquot (HK$400) or Ruinart Blanc de Blancs (HK$800).

Rock the stage at a Halloween Lipsync Battle at the Hive Kennedy Town (6/F, Cheung Hing Industrial Building, 12P Smithfield, Kennedy Town) on October 31 (7pm-11.30pm), or dance the night away at Aqua (17/F H Zentre, 15 Middle Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui) at its Inferno Nights Halloween party on October 31.
If humour is what you need this Halloween, then the annual Halloween Show at Backstage Comedy (LG/F, Jardine House, Basehall 2, 1 Connaught Pl, Central) on November 2 is for you.
On October 31, Maggie Choo (G/F, Chinachem Hollywood Centre, Hollywood Rd, Central) is sinking its teeth into Halloween with The Blood Moon Ball, a night of contortionist acts and aerial performers inspired by Dracula.

The Great Halloween Escape at The Dispensary (Block 01, Tai Kwun, Police Headquarters, 10 Hollywood Rd, Central) on October 31 (9pm-11pm) is all about flowing Champagne, live entertainment and Halloween-themed cocktails, while live music and killer cocktails will also be served on October 31 and November 1 at The Mansion bar (G/F, 77 Wyndham St, Central).
Sip Halloween-themed cocktails onboard Hong Kong’s iconic red-sail junk boat Aqualuna on October 31 for its fun Haunted Halloween Cruise.
Prices are HK$320 for adults and HK$230 for children for sailings at 6.30pm and 8.30pm from Central Pier 9 (15 minutes later from Tsim Sha Tsui Pier 1); and HK$398 for adults and HK$298 for children for the sailing at 7.30pm from Central (7.45pm from Tsim Sha Tsui).
