Netflix is back with another period piece packed with ballroom gowns and aristocratic acrimony.
The Leopard is a mini-series adaptation of an Italian literary classic of the same name, set to begin streaming on March 5.
In the six-part series based on the 1958 novel by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, Kim Rossi Stuart takes the lead role of Don Fabrizio Corbera, Prince of Salina, while Benedetta Porcaroli stars as Concetta, Deva Cassel as Angelica, and Saul Nanni as Tancredi.
“Based on what many consider to be one of the greatest Italian novels of all time, The Leopard is a dazzlingly sensuous epic, set against the backdrop of revolution in 1860s Sicily,” Netflix says.
The story centres on Don Fabrizio Corbera, who enjoys a life of luxury and privilege until the impending unification of Italy threatens the old aristocratic order and the future of his family.
