Nicholas Tse Ting-fung is arguably Hong Kong’s entertainment industry’s best-known nepo baby of the 21st century. He is the son of actor Patrick Tse Yin and actress Deborah Lee, and has been the focus of media attention since he was a child.
Born on August 29, 1980, Tse entered the public consciousness during a photo op with his father at age 15, while the family was spending the summer in the city – they had migrated to Vancouver in Canada in the early 90s. The young Tse’s good looks were already apparent and sent teens and tweens into a frenzy even though he was not yet a public figure.
The attention was so strong, in fact, that Tse began his career in show business at the age of 17, following in the footsteps of his parents.
Tse’s father, known for his charisma and suave good looks, is one of the most high-profile actors in Hong Kong cinema history. He had leading roles in scores of films from the 1950s to the 1970s, and became the oldest best actor winner at the Hong Kong Film Awards in 2022 for his part in Time.
