Who doesn’t love to discover a new beauty brand? I, for one, am always excited by the prospect of the next miracle cream. But perhaps even more exciting is when an already popular and well-established brand finally becomes available in Hong Kong. The products have been vetted, the reviews have posted, and now we get to see what all the fuss is about. Here are some of the big names that have recently set up shop in Hong Kong.

1. SHOW Beauty
This British hairstyling brand – founded and fronted by the fascinating Tamara Ecclestone – is all about glamour and opulence. The 11-piece collection is divided into various categories for nourishing, volumising, thickening and finishing. My favourites include the Pure Treatment Oil (HK$690) with argan and jojoba oils and a pleasant floral scent, and the Premiere Finishing Spray (HK$430) offering weightless hold. Ecclestone, who stopped by Hong Kong on her worldwide launch tour with baby in tow, says her go-to product these days is the Premiere Dry Shampoo (HK$430). Available at Joyce Beauty counters and stores.
2. AmorePacific
Korean skincare has been all the rage in Hong Kong for years, but until recently we couldn’t get our hands on behemoth brand AmorePacific. Finally, the group has launched its premium skincare line, Time Response, at Lane Crawford. The core ingredient, “first sprouted green tea leaves”, are said to make a compound 200 times stronger than Vitamin E. The collection, already a bestseller in the United States, includes a Skin Renewal Crème (HK$3,280), Eye Renewal Crème (HK$1,910) and Skin Renewal Serum (HK$3,750). Available at Lane Crawford IFC (2320 1323) and Canton Road (2110 1521).

3. Tom Ford for Men
One for the guys, Tom Ford for Men has been gaining followers worldwide with its sleek scents and masculine grooming products. Last month the collection made its Hong Kong debut – and Asian premiere – with a star-studded event at the Four Seasons. The well-edited range includes Purifying Face Cleanser (HK$450), Anti-Fatigue Eye Treatment (HK$750), Skin Revitalizing Concentrate (HK$1,550) and Concealer for Men (HK$400). There’s even a Bronzing Gel (HK$500) for anyone looking to fake a just-back-from-the-Maldives glow. Available at Lane Crawford Times Square (2110 4725) and Canton Road (2110 4727).

4. Parfumerie Trésor
Not exactly a brand but a collection of niche brands, Parfumerie Trésor is a treasure trove of hard-to-find fragrances. The newly opened boutique stocks more than 15 brands, mostly from France and many of which are not available anywhere else in Asia. The selection includes Floris, Yosh, Memo, Jovoy, Bella Bellissima and Parfums D’Orsay. Fragrance experts are on hand to guide you through the various styles. So if you’re in the market for a signature scent that truly stands out from the crowd, this is the place to go. 28 Lyndhurst Terrace, Central, 2711 5922.
