With seemingly everyone from Gwyneth Paltrow to friends and colleagues jumping on the juice-cleanse bandwagon, it’s been hard to ignore the buzz about detoxing. Who wouldn’t like to “reset the system” and perhaps lose a few pounds in the process?

Local day spa chain Sense of Touch is offering that – and a lot more – with its new Digital Detox Programme. With an aim to “balance and detoxify mind, body and soul”, the programme includes a one-hour outdoor yoga session, one-hour detox massage, one-day juice cleanse and a hair-treatment set to take home.

Guests are advised to phase out coffee, alcohol, cigarettes, sugar, meat and dairy the day before the programme as a kind of pre-cleanse. They should then follow the juice cleanse (and avoid all solid foods) for one full day.

While I did my best to avoid the bad stuff, I must admit I nibbled on a muffin before arriving at the Repulse Bay spa for my 11am yoga session. After a cup of ginger and lemon tea, four of us were introduced to our instructor Cathy – who did a good job of explaining the benefits of various yoga poses and styles. The class consisted of several variations of twists and forward bends, which were rather relaxing despite the sounds of construction work taking place near the Moroccan-style patio.
