As we begin to bid farewell to summer, Kowloon is offering a packed weekend for those seeking refuge from the rain. Manila-born coffee-cocktail hybrid concept Raion arrives at Avoca at the Mondrian, whilst Bar Buonasera hosts Laizhou Bar from Shanghai as part of its seventh anniversary celebrations. Last but not least, it’s one of the last weekends to take a sip of Terrible Baby’s summer specials.

Raion x Avoca

What: In just its second year, Raion from Manila has been making waves for its two-pronged approach, serving coffee by day and cutting-edge contemporary cocktails by night. Co-founders Shinichi Itoh and Kate Osmillo arrive in Hong Kong to take over Avoca at Mondrian Hong Kong with a set of four signature cocktails and twists on classics. The quirky Cheese Burger combines Ron Matusalem 15 rum with tomato ketchup, garlic chive and ancho verde, whilst the Kingston Negroni combines Ron Matusalem 23 with Ratafia Rossi, sweet vermouth, umeshu and chocolate mole.

Laizhou Bar x Bar Buonasera

What: This weekend, beverage director Peter Kwok of Laizhou Bar takes over Bar Buonasera as part of the latter’s seventh anniversary celebrations. The Shanghainese gastropub is known for its contemporary cocktails that focus on Chinese ingredients and elaborate presentation, as well as for its fiery Sichuan food. Expect Kwok to bring the heat as he arrives this weekend courtesy of Campari Academy.
