In yesterday's report, "Xi cements control over PLA with unique background", the word "first" was missing from the concluding sentence of the second paragraph. The sentence should have read: Just one week after taking over as chairman of the party's Central Military Commission (CMC) - a post that some believed President Hu Jintao might attempt to keep for another two years - Xi demonstrated his grip on power by appointing his first PLA general on Friday.
