Patrick Zweifel

Patrick Zweifel is chief economist at Pictet Asset Management. He has a PhD in econometrics from the University of Lausanne, and previously worked at the World Bank and the European Commission. Having joined Pictet in 1997, he has been crucial in building the firm’s macroeconomic research.

With the US withdrawing from its role as global financial leader and the renminbi gaining traction, China should cement its position with deep reforms so it can attract the capital it will need to deal with a current account deficit caused by demographic factors.
