These apps will help you stay organised and be productive.

As a student – especially in a crazy year like this one – it can be hard to keep track of all your sports, clubs, revision and social life. Whether you are studying for the DSE, GCSEs or IB, these five apps will help you stay on track to achieve your goals.

My Study Life – School Planner

Time to say goodbye to your paper planner. Track assignments, set exam reminders, and manage classes with this app. It allows you to customise class timetables, (rotating or repeating schedules as necessary), as well as academic year/term dates.

The app can help you track how much of a task has been completed. You can also create a unique revision timetable, and set timely reminders, so you’ll never forget an assignment or test again.

Quizlet

This flashcard app and website allows students to master concepts through a range of games and test modes, including Gravity, Write, Learn, Spell and Match. If you can’t find what you’re looking for among the millions of pre-made study sets, you can create your own flashcards, and share them with others.

The free version contains all the basic features, but you can upgrade to Quizlet Go or Quizlet Plus for offline access and custom diagrams.

Move your flashcards online with Quizlet.

Exam Countdown Lite

This app is exactly what its name suggests: a free and simple way to help you keep track of test and exam dates.

You can colour code your tests and decorate your calendar with more than 400 icons, as well as add notes and share your exams on social media. A super useful way to store all those important dates all in one place.

Forest

Spending too much time on your phone? This productivity app helps you overcome that distraction. When you need to focus on something, open the app and plant a seed. As long as you have the app open, i.e. are not being distracted by other things on your phone, the seed will grow into a tree. But If you leave the app, your tree will wither and die.

It also pays you virtual coins which you can spend to plant real trees through the charity Trees for the Future. Definitely a win-win.

Available: iOS – HK$15, Android – Free

As long as you leave the app open, your forest will grow. Close out of it and it will die.

XMind

If you’re tired of writing standard notes, try making mind maps instead. This mind-mapping software has a user interface that’s easy to understand, and dozens of built-in templates and structures, ranging from Fishbone Chart to Timeline.

There are loads of really appealing modes and features to help you study, and the mind maps you create can be synced across your devices, allowing you to access them anytime and anywhere.
