Indonesia’s free meals programme sickens over 1,700 students and teachers in 3 days

The cases are linked to the government’s flagship programme introduced last year to improve child nutrition.

Indonesia’s US$12.94 billion free school meals programme has sickened another 1,700 students and teachers across four locations. On Wednesday, more than 750 students and teachers were reported to have suffered from diarrhoea and vomiting after consuming food from the meals scheme. Another 950 people reportedly fell ill in three separate locations on Tuesday and Wednesday.
