Comiket Japan: Chinese games among growing overseas presence at largest fan convention
Japanese-style animation and games made overseas, such as Blue Archive and Azur Lane, have become increasingly popular in Japan.
The 108th edition of the world’s largest fan convention, Comiket, marks more than 50 years of anime, manga and game exhibitions in Japan. The market ran from August 15-16, 2026, with around 23,000 booths and queuing times as long as five hours. Recent editions of Comiket have increasingly featured foreign-made Japanese-style media, including mobile games like Blue Archive from South Korea and China-made Azur Lane.
