Myanmar’s Min Aung Hlaing breaks out of diplomatic isolation with Thai state visit

Myanmar leader Min Aung Hlaing has started a state visit to Thailand, months after the junta chief became the country’s president. It is also the former general’s first official visit to Thailand since Myanmar’s junta overthrew the democratically elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi. The nation’s leaders were also barred from attending Association of Southeast Asian Nations summits after the 2021 coup.
