Myanmar’s Aung San Suu Kyi meets Red Cross official in first post-coup visit
Newly released photographs are among the few images that show the democratic leader since she was detained by the military in 2021.
Myanmar’s detained democratic leader Aung San Suu Kyi met the nation’s Red Cross representative on Monday, the president’s office said. It was the first publicised meeting between Suu Kyi and a foreign official since she was ousted in a 2021 coup. While describing the meeting as “meaningful”, Suu Kyi’s son Kim Aris said the country will not return to normalcy until the junta frees his mother and all political prisoners.
