Grieving families in Beirut hospital identify bodies after deadliest day of war
Israel carries out its most violent strikes on the capital Beirut after saying the US-Iran truce doesn’t apply to Lebanon.
Grieving families have been gathering at a hospital in Beirut to identify bodies of loved ones after Israel launched one of its deadliest strikes on the Lebanese capital in decades. At least 300 people were killed and over 1,150 injured in the attacks on April 9, 2026. Israel said its actions in Lebanon are not covered by a ceasefire in the US-Israeli war on Iran. Washington has also said Lebanon is not covered by the truce announced by US President Donald Trump on April 7.
