All 48 people aboard a passenger plane died when the aircraft crashed in Russia's far east on July 24, 2025. The Soviet-designed twin turboprop plane was found burning on a hillside 15km (9 miles) south of Tynda, its planned destination. The plane, operated by the Siberia-based Angara Airlines, departed from Khabarovsk, stopping in Blagoveshchensk on the Russian-Chinese border before heading to Tynda. Images show debris scattered among dense forest surrounded by plumes of smoke as rescuers struggled to reach the remote site.
