US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has chosen Ohio senator J.D. Vance as his 2024 vice-presidential running mate. Vance made his first speech following the announcement at a fundraiser in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 17, 2024, during the Republican National Convention. Trump’s pick was announced on the first day of the convention, and within days of an assassination attempt on the former president that left him bloodied after a bullet grazed his ear.
