US president Joe Biden pledges more weapons for Ukraine on surprise visit to Kyiv

US President Joe Biden made an unannounced visit to Ukraine on February 20, 2023, in a show of support ahead of the one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion, promising President Volodymyr Zelensky that Washington would stand with Ukraine “for as long as it takes”. Biden also told Zelensky that Washington would provide Kyiv with a new military aid package worth US$500 million.
