Stranded vehicles emerge as floodwaters recede in parts of California
Floodwaters began to recede on January 2, 2023 in parts of northern California, revealing stranded vehicles. Northern and central California were hit by a powerful weather system called an “atmospheric river” on New Year’s Eve, which brought heavy rain to the region. It triggered traffic jams, blackouts and road closures across California. More storms are expected this week, according to the National Weather Service.
