'All of a sudden I heard the landslide': Over 140 people die in floods lashing Congolese capital

At least 141 people have died in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, after heavy rains triggered floods and landslides on December 13, 2022, according to the government. The damage submerged nearly 40,000 houses and flattened around 300 in the city of 15 million people. Congolese President Felix Tshisekedi declared three days of mourning.
