McDonald’s exits Russia in response to invasion of Ukraine

The American fast-food giant McDonald’s announced on May 16, 2022, that it would sell its 850 restaurants in Russia and exit the market entirely. The global brand opened in Russia in 1990, but now joins a growing list of international firms to pull out of Russia since its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
