Iran vows revenge if US fails to put former president Trump on trial for Soleimani killing

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has vowed to avenge the killing of Quassem Soleimani if former US president Donald Trump is not put on trial. He issued the warning on the second anniversary of the general’s death as thousands rallied across Iran and Iraq to mark Soleimani’s death. The former head of Iran’s elite Quds Force was killed by a US airstrike in Iraq on January 3, 2020. The US claimed they took action in “self-defence”, although experts have debated whether or not there was a legal basis for the strike.
