Afghan who left Kabul 2 days before Taliban takeover fears for family’s safety in Afghanistan

Nasrin Nawa fled Afghanistan for the US two days before the Taliban took over the country’s capital of Kabul. As she departed, she kept thinking about what might happen to her family, who were still in the city, if it fell to the insurgent group. Her nightmare came true. Many Afghans are scrambling to find a way to leave, but her family has had no luck so far. “Until now, we have no hope,” she said. “There is no way. We can’t get any solid response that it’s possible to get out of the country. I don’t know what will happen to my family… and other families.”
