US ‘disturbed’ by additional charges filed against Myanmar civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi

The US is ‘disturbed’ by additional criminal charges filed against Myanmar civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi, according to a media briefing by State Department spokesman Ned Price on February 16, 2021. Suu Kyi’s lawyer said a second charge of violating a Natural Disaster Management Law had been filed. Suu Kyi has been detained since the beginning of February after the Burmese military staged a coup.
