More than 50 people charged in U.S. college admission bribery scam
At least 50 people have been charged in connection with a college admissions bribery scandal in the United States. Investigators say the scam linked to institutions across the country involved parents buying university places for their children, faking test scores and athletic records, and even manipulating photos to falsely imply the prospective students were involved in sports.
Among the wealthy parents involved are US celebrities including actresses Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman.
The man accused of being at the centre of the scam, William Singer, is accused of setting up a fraudulent charity for laundering bribe money. He has pleaded guilty to multiple charges.
