Tokyo Paralympic Games come to a close with fireworks over Japanese capital

The Tokyo Paralympics ended with a fireworks display on September 5, 2021. Hundreds of people gathered outside the National Stadium in Tokyo to see the closing ceremony. The Games were held in venues inaccessible to the public, because of the Covid-19 pandemic which also delayed the events originally scheduled to take place in 2020. Among the world's largest sporting competitions for athletes with disabilities, the Paralympics opened in Japan on August 24. The next Summer Olympics and Paralympic Games will take place in Paris in 2024.
