UBTech Robotics plans to mass produce its industrial humanoid robots as soon as the end of this year, according to the chief brand officer of the Chinese company. Michael Tam spoke exclusively to the Post on January 15, 2024, about how the Shenzhen-based company is ramping up output amid fierce competition in China’s robotics sector. Founded in 2012 and listed in Hong Kong in 2023, UBTech is not immune to the challenges faced by many robot makers which struggle to turn a profit because of the huge investments they require. Tam said the company plans to focus, for now, on investing in artificial intelligence (AI) instead of prioritising profits.
