Wudang Mountains in central China is one of the centres of Taoism, and the cradle of tai chi, a martial art affiliated with the religion. Referred to as “moving meditation”, tai chi is getting popular in fast-paced Chinese cities. Authorities in the Wudang Mountains in Hubei Province have made an ambitious plan to create a special zone to promote health preservation, martial arts, Taoist medicine, and tourism. The mountains’ tourism has seen a strong recovery from the pandemic with about 420,000 visitors arriving in the first quarter.
