Thailand’s parliament elected the arch-conservative and populist Anutin Charnvirakul to become the country’s next prime minister on September 5, 2025, after months of political deadlock. His bid was supported by the reformist People’s Party, after the two rival camps reached an agreement to dissolve parliament and call for snap elections within four months.
