Iran will reopen the Strait of Hormuz under a ceasefire agreement with the United States brokered by Pakistan. The two sides also agreed to start peace deal negotiations in Islamabad on April 10, 2026. US President Donald Trump said on April 7 the US would pause its bombing campaign in Iran for two weeks, as requested by Pakistani mediators in a last-minute bid to create space for diplomacy.
