Michelin Guide recognises 60-year-old Taipei street food stall and its famous guabao ‘hamburger’
A 60-year-old street food stall in a Taipei night market has been included in a 2020 Michelin Guide list because of its famous US$2 “hamburger” steamed bun. The Taiwan eatery had already been a favourite among locals for its guabao, also known as ho-ga-ti or “tiger bites pig” in Taiwanese. They are made by folding a bun in half after stuffing it with braised pork, salted vegetables, coriander and ground peanuts. Stall owner Wu Huang-yi recently dished up some of the story behind the secret recipe behind his Michelin success.
