‘It’s hard to let go’: Beloved Cantonese diner Kam Shing set to close

After three decades as a culinary landmark on eastern Hong Kong Island, Kam Shing Restaurant will serve its final meal on January 31, 2026. But the closure is not a surrender to financial pressure, according to the eatery’s second-generation owner. Kwok Hei-man says he is ready to trade his apron for a life beyond the kitchen.
