The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Hong Kong said on December 10, 2025, that as many as 84 pets remained missing after a deadly blaze in Hong Kong’s Tai Po neighbourhood. SPCA Deputy Director of Welfare Dr Fiona Woodhouse, who worked on an emergency support team as the tragedy unfolded, urged the government to place animal traps inside affected buildings to find the missing pets. At least 160 people have been confirmed dead after the November 26 fire tore through seven of eight buildings in the residential complex.
