City begins three-day mourning period as officials hold minute of silence for those lost in the city’s deadliest fire in decades.
On Saturday November 29, 2025, Hong Kong began three-day mourning for victims of the city’s deadliest fire in seven decades. Hong Kong’s Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu, along with senior officials and cabinet members, held three minutes of silence to mourn the victims of Hong Kong’s Tai Po fire tragedy. National and Hong Kong flags at all government buildings and facilities, including offices abroad, were lowered to half-mast. Condolence points were set up by Home Affairs Department in city’s 18 districts that will remain open until Monday December 1, as rescue efforts enter fourth day.
