Saudi Arabia's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Al-Swaha visited Hong Kong on July 2, 2023, to foster collaboration in innovation and technology between the two jurisdictions. Al-Swaha, who is in charge of the kingdom’s digital infrastructure, said in an interview with the Post that Saudi Arabia hopes to “replicate” the success seen in Hong Kong and other Chinese cities to “build an innovation bridge” between the Kingdom and China. Following his meeting with the visiting Saudi official, Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu said that boosting ties with Riyadh is a priority.
