Marking the 73rd Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee joined about 1,400 guests at a flag-raising ceremony in the city’s Golden Bauhinia Square. Lee later officiated at a National Day reception at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, where he pledged to maintain the city’s competitiveness and boost its economic vibrancy after its battle with the pandemic, as he hailed the city’s “irreplaceably distinct advantages” under Beijing’s support.
